Who We Are

CEA is a community driven association of law professors, lawyers, and paralegals providing advocacy training, experiential learning activities, and resources to support students and new legal professionals across Canada. We are committed to the training and mentorship of Canada’s future legal professionals as superior advocates, confident professionals, and resilient members of their communities.

CEA provides support and resources to improve access, education, and knowledge in the field of advocacy for students and new legal professionals.

What We Do

Our advocacy training is the heart of what we do. We train students from across Canada to participate in various mooting competitions, such as the Osgoode Cup, the Capital Cup, and the Lions Cup. Students learn how to:

dissect court decisions
construct legal arguments
utilize persuasive oral advocacy techniques
respond to questions confidently
develop teamwork and communication skills

Mentorship

Program

We are building a community of mentors and mentees! Connection is important for our social well-being, career advancement, and life-long learning. Our mentorship program helps students develop relationships with practicing and non-practicing legal professionals so they can build bridges and expand their information base in order to make well-informed academic and career choices.

Engagement

We are dedicated to fostering meaningful connections between students and their communities to enhance students' lifelong learning journeys. We organize events and volunteer activities that contribute to students’ personal and academic development and help them develop a sense of belonging within their communities. We seek to empower students with the skills, knowledge, and values necessary to become compassionate, responsible, and engaged citizens.
